ELECTROTHERAPY
NeuroActive physiotherapists utilise a wide range of electrotheraputic modalities. These include:-
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS).

TENS relieves pain by inhibiting pain signals relayed to the brain and by increasing the levels of the bodys own pain killers, endorphins and enkephalins. TENS is a non-invasive, safe and effective method of relieving pain.
Ultrasound
Utilising high frequency sound waves to stimulate blood circulation and cell activity, ultrasound accelarates the healing process and provides pain relief.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)
EMS stimulates the nerves supplying a muscle, this results in a muscle contraction. EMS is used to strengthen weak muscles, speed up recovery of a nerve following injury, reduce swelling and relieve pain. EMS is used in the treatment of foot drop, incomplete spinal cord injury, peripheral nerve injury and Bell's palsy.
Interferential Stimulation

Interferential Stimulation uses medium frequency electrical currents to increase circulation to the targeted area. Interferential can be used to relieve pain, reduce swelling and bruising and promote healing.
